Maggs here.

I really don't like having to beg for stuff, but once again we find ourselves in a bit of a bind, and have to turn to you guys.

Life has been very tough for me lately and I'm getting to the point where I will not be able to continue drawing Victory Fire without some sort of income. I don't need a lot, but I do need just a little bit of something reasonably regularly. If I can't make VF pay for itself somehow I'm going to have to go and concentrate on doing commission work elsewhere, and that'd be a great shame for us because the comic's just about to start getting good!

To that end, I want to start up a Paypal donation based side project, and I think I've come up with something you guys might like which shouldn't step on Nintendo's toes copyright-wise.

VFQuest is an interactive comic where you direct the action. If you're familiar with the likes of Homestuck and Prequel... well, it won't be much like that :B But, I think it will be fun.

The Hero is a newbie member of the Adventurer's Guild. At the start of each Quest, the Hero will be given a mission to complete, and it is up to you, the readers, to decide how and if the Hero succeeds.

You do not have to donate anything to make suggestions! You will be welcome to participate however much or little you like. However, donations will have an important part to play:

There are three possible endings to each VFQuest.

:bulletred: If the donation goal isn't met, we get the Bad End.
:bulletyellow: If the donation goal is met, we get the Neutral End.
:bulletgreen: If the donation goal is met AND a certain Item is acquired, we get the Best End.

If donation goals for a Quest are exceeded by significant amounts, we might get extra fun stuff like phone and desktop wallpapers too!

A Challenger Appears...

If you'd like your character to star in an episode of VFQuest, you will be able to purchase slots which count towards the Donation goal as follows:

Hero (Save the day, in style.) - $20
The Hero slot comes with a blink animation avatar in your choice of size, for anywhere on the internet you may roam! Repeat purchases of this slot will get you cooler stuff such as page dolls or wallpapers of your character!

Ally (Or comic relief if that's how you roll!) - $10
Jump in anytime to help the hero out! Comes with a static avatar in your choice of size.

Villain (Because swirling black cloaks of evil are a must for any adventure.) - $20
The Villain slot comes with a blink animation avatar in your choice of size, for anywhere on the internet you may roam! Repeat purchases of this slot will get you cooler stuff such as page dolls or wallpapers of your character!

Special Quests

VFQuest is an Alternate Universe and does not directly connect to PMD Victory Fire. However, sometimes a Special Quest may run, which will tie-in to the events happening in Victory Fire. Depending on whether the Special Quest goes well or badly, things may get better or worse for the characters in the main comic. Yup, we're going interactive. ohgodthey'redoomed

So, are you a boy or a girl..?

The first ever VFQuest will begin on the 10th January.

Hero and Villain roles are already set for this first Quest as it's basically a test-run for the concept, but there will be one Ally slot available! The goal for this round is just $50, and all tips and purchases will be added towards it.

Since we have this lovely shiny subscriber account now, we'll even be able to run polls and ask you what kind of Quest you'd like next!

This is a FANTASTIC idea, seriously. I probably won't be able to donate myself, at least for a while, but the incentive for doing so is awesome! :dummy:
